Charlotte Motor Speedway Advance Notes Race: Bank of America 500 on Saturday, Oct. 16 Track: Charlotte Motor Speedway (1.5-mile quad-oval) Location: Concord, N.C.
Charlotte History: Montoya will be making his seventh NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. His career best weekend at CMS was in the 2009 Spring event where he qualified ninth and finished eighth.
Fontana Review: The No. 42 Target team started from the fourth position and overcame a brush with the wall and two pit road penalties to finish 14th. The top-15 is the 16th of the season and the top-10 qualifying spot marks the 12th consecutive one for the team.
Energizer Booth Appearance: Race fans attending this weekend’s event at Charlotte Motor Speedway be sure to visit the Energizer booth located outside of the racetrack on souvenir row this Saturday, October 16. Montoya will be at the booth signing autographs from 4:00pm-4:15pm (ET).
Qualifying Consistency: Montoya and the No. 42 Target team continued their qualifying streak of top-10 starting positions this past weekend at Auto Club Speedway. The No. 42 Chevrolet has started in the top-10 for 12 straight weeks beginning with Chicagoland in mid-July. This also includes one of the two pole awards for Montoya this season and six top-five starting positions.
2010 Fast Facts: After the first 30 events in 2010 Montoya has already surpassed his previous season high laps led by three laps with 391. With a hot streak of 12 straight top-10 qualifying positions and 21 this season Montoya currently has an average start of 10th- another career high.
