Earnhardt Ganassi Racing Kicks off the 2010 Season Shootout Style with Two Top-10 Finishes

Daytona Beach, FL. (February 7, 2010) – Earnhardt Ganassi Racing’s Juan Pablo Montoya came out of the gate strong during yesterday evening’s Budweiser Shootout at Daytona, only helping to build momentum for the start of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.

Montoya drew the 20th starting position for his inaugural Bud Shootout appearance. For the first segment, Montoya held back in the pack and came down pit road in 13th under the mandatory caution on lap 25. For the remaining 50 laps, the No. 42 Target Chevrolet visited pit road twice for minor adjustments to loosen up the car. Montoya ran as high as sixth in the closing laps of the 75-lap shootout. A final caution flag would fall on lap 74 and would determine the results of the race. Montoya was in the 10th position when the yellow was displayed and would be credited with such as he took the checkered flag under caution.

NASCAR’s premier race, the Daytona 500, will take place next Sunday, February 14th at 1:00 pm (ET). The field of 43 cars will battle on the high banks at Daytona, gunning for the coveted Harley J. Earl trophy.  The race will air live on FOX and broadcasted live on MRN.
