Darlington Raceway Advance Notes Race: Southern 500 on Saturday, May 8 Track: Darlington Raceway (1.366-mile oval) Location: Darlington, S.C.
Lady in Black History: Montoya will be making his fourth-career start at Darlington Raceway this weekend. His best starting position of 19th came in 2008 and his best finish of 20th occurred at last year’s race. Montoya has completed 1098 of the 1011 (99.7%) laps at the track “too tough to tame”.
Richmond Review: Juan Pablo Montoya and Team Target rallied under the lights at Richmond International Raceway to come home with a sixth-place finish. The top-10 finish is the fifth for the team this season and the sixth-place finish is Montoya’s best finish at the quarter-mile facility. Montoya had started 19th in the event and ran in the top-10 for the majority of the race.
In the Points: The fifth top-10 finish of the season for the Target team moved Montoya up to 18th in the NSCS point standings, just 104 points out of 12th—the cutoff for the Chase.
Top-10 Ratings: Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Target team may sit 18th in the NSCS points, but that does not back-up the 2010 statistics. Montoya currently is sixth among drivers for laps in the top-15, fifth for green flag speed, fifth in fastest laps run, fifth in fastest drivers early in a run, and ranks seventh in the overall driver rating with a 90.9.
Rev the Vote: The 2010 Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is less than three weeks away. By logging on to www.nascar.com/promos/allstar/?sc_cid=allstar6, texting “Vote” to “7777” on a Sprint phone or visiting a voting booth in the Sprint Experience mobile display unit at an upcoming race you can vote Montoya and the No. 42 Target team into the race. Also, an incentive to Sprint customers, every vote submitted via Sprint or Nextel mobile counts as double in the driver standings. Voting runs through Saturday, May 22, ending one hour prior to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. Votes are unlimited, so be sure to keep voting!
Printer Friendly: If you’ve been tagged by friends in photos on Facebook and would like to print them yourself, Target has a new application that allows you to do so. The application will let you print photos directly from Facebook to be picked up at the closest Target, all within as little as an hour.
CHASSIS INFO No. 42 Target Chevrolet (NSCS): Chassis #910. Brian Pattie will bring chassis #910 to Darlington this weekend. It was previously at Las Vegas Motor Speedway where Montoya qualified tenth and finished 37th after an on-track altercation while running in the top-10. This chassis also ran in the 2009 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway where a mid-race incident forced the team to a 38th-place finish.
