Texaco/Havoline Introduces 42 Days of Racing for Final Six Cup Races of Season

SAN RAMON, Calif., June 18, 2007-Chevron Global Marketing announced the kickoff of the Texaco 42 Days of Racing promotion with a grand prize race package featuring a trip to the final six stock car races of the season and a chance to meet Texaco/Havoline driver Juan Pablo Montoya.  Other prizes include a 2008 Dodge Avenger R, autographed racing caps and Texaco gift cards.  Race fans can enter the sweepstakes online at www.42DaysOfRacing.com

Throughout the Texaco 42 Days of Racing, which concludes July 28, customers will receive free with any gas purchase a limited edition Juan Pablo Montoya No. 42 Texaco/Havoline race team 32-ounce collector fountain cup.  

The sweepstakes’ highly coveted grand prize package is a race fan’s dream, including roundtrip airfare, lodging, deluxe transportation, and two premiere tickets to each of the last six races of the 2007 stock car season.

“Stock car racing has become one of America’s most popular spectator sports, but few fans have had the opportunity to experience this many races firsthand,” said Danny Roden, vice president of North America Marketing for Chevron.  “Texaco has been fortunate to build a rich 20 year legacy in stock car racing and we are giving our customers the chance to take part in the live-action excitement of these races.”

Also providing additional support for the No. 42 team and driver, Texaco will release a special limited edition gift card carrying the image of driver Juan Pablo Montoya during the 42 Days of Racing promotion. The gift card is expected to be available in stores later this summer.

Juan Pablo Montoya and the Wrigleys Juicy FruitĀ® Dodge were involved in a lap 70 incident with Greg Biffle that sent them behind the wall for repairs at Daytona International Speedway. The No. 42 team fixed the damaged car and had it back out onto the track in just 24 laps. Montoya finished the Coke Zero 400 in the 38th position and dropped to 21st in the NASCAR Sprint Cup driver standings.

Juan Pablo Montoya and the Texaco/Havoline Dodge finished the rain-shortened race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the 32nd position on Sunday. Montoya and the No. 42 crew had one of the quickest cars of the weekend, but were marred in traffic, blocked in their pits on several occasions and had a late-race run in with the No. 18 car that led them to the disappointing 32nd-place finish.

JPM had a great result, despite the crash: I think we had a car to win. I just got screwed. ... After I got taken out, sixth was a great result. Everybody here at Chip Ganassi Racing is working hard, said Montoya, who was coming off back-to-back 38th-place finishes in the previous two races. We needed this. We needed a good finish. We didnt get the win, but we did get a good finish out of it. I had a lot of fun out there Sunday

After starting 21st due to a qualifying rainout, Juan Pablo Montoya battled loose conditions for 200 laps in his Big Red Dodge at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) and finished the event in the 38th position. The weekend began promising as Montoya and Crew Chief Brian Pattie were pleased with the first practice and optimistic about qualifying. The rain began falling...
