Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 30 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Homestead-Miami Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. (Novemeber 16, 2006) Juan Pablo Montoya will make his NASCAR NEXTEL Cup debut in the No. 30 Texaco/Havoline Dodge this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Montoya, a Miami resident, will compete in both the NASCAR Busch Series and NEXTEL Cup races this weekend. Steve Boyer will crew chief the No. 30 Dodge Charger for Montoya in the Cup Series, while Brad Parrott will continue his role as his Busch Series crew chief.

"We are very excited about Juan Pablo running in the Cup race on Sunday as he is making great strides in his transition to stock cars," said Team Owner Chip Ganassi. "But as I have said all along, this is just another of many steps in his preparation for the 2007 NASCAR season."

"I am really excited that my first Cup race will be at my hometown track in Homestead as I will have a lot of friends and family around," said Montoya. "I think this is a good move for both me and our team as I continue experiencing the new challenges of racing a stock car. This is just another step in my preparation for the 2007 NASCAR season."

NEXTEL Cup:

Testing: Montoya and the No. 30 Texaco/Havoline team tested a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup car at Homestead-Miami Speedway in preparation for the 267-lap event. Montoya participated in the two-day open test session last month with teammates Casey Mears, Reed Sorenson and David Stremme.

Chassis: Crew chief Boyer and the Texaco/Havoline team are taking chassis #620 for Montoya's Cup debut this weekend. This is a new chassis in the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates stable. Montoya did test this car at Homestead-Miami Speedway last month.

NASCAR Foundation Walk:  Montoya and his wife Connie will be participating in the NASCAR Foundation Track Walk on Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway at 8:30 a.m. ET. Proceeds from the walk will benefit The Victory Junction Gang, The Darrell Gwynn Foundation and The NASCAR Foundation.

Racing Inc.: Chip Ganassi Racing is the focus this week in a SPEED TV special called Racing Incorporated which takes viewers inside the business of racing with a close-up look at the motorsports operations of team owner Chip Ganassi. The pair of one-hour specials will air this Wednesday, Nov. 15 and Thursday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. ET & PT (re-played at 11 pm ET).  Racing Incorporated was given unprecedented access by the team to its race shops in Indianapolis, Ind., and Concord, N.C., over a several weeks this past summer for a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of Ganassi's IndyCar, NASCAR, and Grand American Sports Car Series operations.

Busch Series:

Team: Montoya will be making his fourth Busch Series start with crew chief Parrott and the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline team. The team is bringing chassis #654 for the final Busch Series event of the season. Earlier this year, Montoya's teammate Mears drove this chassis to victory lane at Chicagoland Speedway and to top-five finishes at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May and Michigan International Speedway in August.

Stock Car Experience:  Montoya has made three NASCAR Busch Series starts this season, in addition to several test sessions. His best finish this season was 11th in the debut at Memphis Motorsports Park. In his last two efforts at Texas and Phoenix, Montoya and the Texaco/Havoline team finished 28th and 20th respectively.

Juan Pablo Montoya and the Wrigleys Juicy Fruit® Dodge were involved in a lap 70 incident with Greg Biffle that sent them behind the wall for repairs at Daytona International Speedway. The No. 42 team fixed the damaged car and had it back out onto the track in just 24 laps. Montoya finished the Coke Zero 400 in the 38th position and dropped to 21st in the NASCAR Sprint Cup driver standings.

Juan Pablo Montoya and the Texaco/Havoline Dodge finished the rain-shortened race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the 32nd position on Sunday. Montoya and the No. 42 crew had one of the quickest cars of the weekend, but were marred in traffic, blocked in their pits on several occasions and had a late-race run in with the No. 18 car that led them to the disappointing 32nd-place finish.

JPM had a great result, despite the crash: I think we had a car to win. I just got screwed. ... After I got taken out, sixth was a great result. Everybody here at Chip Ganassi Racing is working hard, said Montoya, who was coming off back-to-back 38th-place finishes in the previous two races. We needed this. We needed a good finish. We didnt get the win, but we did get a good finish out of it. I had a lot of fun out there Sunday

After starting 21st due to a qualifying rainout, Juan Pablo Montoya battled loose conditions for 200 laps in his Big Red Dodge at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) and finished the event in the 38th position. The weekend began promising as Montoya and Crew Chief Brian Pattie were pleased with the first practice and optimistic about qualifying. The rain began falling...
