BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 17, 2007)-David Stremme and the No.40 Coors Light Dodge started 24th at Michigan International Speedway Sunday and had climbed to 17th by just Lap 33 of 100, but mechanical gremlins halted their run when the team lost a cylinder and fell a number of laps down to the leaders to finish 40th.

The team went behind the wall on Lap 76 to remedy the problem, and returned to the track on Lap 88. Stremme managed to run the race distance after the stop, and with that maintained the 22nd position in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup point standings.

The team is 87 markers out of the top-20, and 317 points away from the 12th position – the final transfer spot for the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup.

Up next for Stremme and the Coors Light team is the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway. The race will be broadcast Sunday, June 24, on TNT and PRN radio (3:30 p.m. ET).

CGRFS Driver Quoteboard

DAVID STREMME: “I know we had a top-10 car today and its frustrating to me and all the guys to not be able to show it out there. Its just one of those deals you have no control over, but my guys worked on it behind the wall and gave it all they could. You have to maintain composure when things don’t go your way, and we did that today by going back out and finishing out the laps.”

JPM had a great result, despite the crash: I think we had a car to win. I just got screwed. ... After I got taken out, sixth was a great result. Everybody here at Chip Ganassi Racing is working hard, said Montoya, who was coming off back-to-back 38th-place finishes in the previous two races. We needed this. We needed a good finish. We didnt get the win, but we did get a good finish out of it. I had a lot of fun out there Sunday
