LOUDON, N.H. (July 1, 2007)-Sporting the Coors Wide Mouth Can paint scheme for the second time in 2007, David Stremme started the 300-lap Lenox Industrial Tools 300 24th and followed Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) teammate Juan Pablo Montoya into the top-20 just nine laps into the contest. By Lap 45 Stremme reported a low voltage measurement in the car’s electrical system, which ultimately slowed the team until they swapped out the battery on Lap 203 in exchange for a 27th place finish.

The team made the most of its eight pit stops on the day, and Stremme drove up to as high as 13th in the early goings (Lap 140). In addition, the Coors Wide Mouth Can pit crew was put to the test after a final trip down pit lane was required on Lap 261 for major rear end damage after Stremme was spun around and into the wall.

The No. 40 team slipped two positions to 25th in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup point standings. The team is 139 markers out of the top-20, and 462 points away from the 12th position – the final transfer spot for the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup.

Up next for Stremme and the Coors Light team is the Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway. The race will be broadcast Saturday, July 7, on TNT and MRN radio (6:30 p.m. ET).

DAVID STREMME: “I think if you look at the beginning of the race, all three Ganassi cars showed they were capable of running strong here. Reed was solidly in the top three, and Juan and I were moving up through the field together toward the top 10. I kept getting a low reading from the battery for some reason though. I’m not sure what it was but we were very optimistic in the early part of the race. Its just a shame we didn’t run better, but even after the incident at the end my guys got me back out quick and we finished on the lead lap.”
